Cape Liberty cruise parking: the garage, the daily rate and drop-off

Cape Liberty Cruise Port has its own parking garage next to the terminal, with an open lot beside it for vehicles taller than 7 feet 4 inches. On 4 November 2026 Royal Caribbean's port page gave $35 a day and Celebrity's $30, taxes included, with cash and major credit cards accepted and no reservation needed. Being dropped off at the terminal is the alternative.

Cape Liberty Cruise Port has one place to park, the garage next to the cruise terminal, with an open lot beside it for tall vehicles. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity both describe it on their own port pages, and their figures differ by $5 a day.

  • Where. Beside the terminal at 4 Port Terminal Boulevard, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
  • Daily rate. $35 a day including taxes on Royal Caribbean's page and $30 on Celebrity's, both read on 4 November 2026. We budget on $35.
  • Reservation. Not needed. Both lines say parking is guaranteed.
  • Payment. Cash or a major credit card.
  • Tall vehicles. The garage clears 7 feet 4 inches. Taller vehicles use the open lot next door, and anything that takes more than one space pays double.

This site is independent. We do not sell parking.

How much is parking at Cape Liberty Cruise Port?

On 4 November 2026 Royal Caribbean's Cape Liberty page gave the garage rate as $35 a day including all taxes, and Celebrity's port page gave $30 a day including all taxes. Both lines say the rate is subject to change. We found no page published by the garage itself, so we plan on the higher figure.

The two pages describe the same garage in almost the same words, and they disagree only on the price. Royal Caribbean sails far more of the cruises on our schedule (97 of 114), but nothing on either page shows which figure is more recent.

How many days you pay for depends on how the garage counts them, and neither line explains that. The table gives both readings. The low figure counts one day per night of the cruise, and the high one counts the sailing day and the return day as days of their own.

Cruise lengthAt $35 a dayAt $30 a day
4 nights$140 to $175$120 to $150
5 nights$175 to $210$150 to $180
7 nights$245 to $280$210 to $240
9 nights$315 to $350$270 to $300
11 nights$385 to $420$330 to $360
12 nights$420 to $455$360 to $390

Parking is a cost per car, so it weighs less when four people share one. On a short trip it can be a large part of the bill. Our short cruises guide and the 5-night page show the cruise fares to set it against, and the cheap cruises page the lowest starting fares we found.

Where is the parking at Cape Liberty?

The garage is next to the cruise terminal. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity both describe a secure parking facility adjacent to the terminal, with an open lot beside the garage for vehicles that do not fit under its roof.

To reach it, drive to the terminal. Royal Caribbean's directions take you down the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 14A, onto Route 440 South and left at the traffic light onto Port Terminal Boulevard. Carry on past the guard gate and follow the signs to the cruise terminal. The port guide has the full directions, including the route over the Bayonne Bridge from Staten Island.

The parking deck dates from the terminal building Royal Caribbean paid for. When the Port Authority's board approved that project on 24 July 2013, it listed a parking deck and additional parking alongside the new check-in and luggage halls.

Neither line's page names the company that runs the garage.

Do you need to reserve parking at Cape Liberty?

No. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity both say no reservations are necessary at the Cape Liberty garage and that parking is guaranteed. You drive in on sailing day and park.

Neither line gives the garage's opening time on sailing day. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity both ask you to arrive inside the check-in window you chose online, and the port guide explains how those windows work.

How do you pay for parking at Cape Liberty?

The garage takes cash and major credit cards, according to both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Neither page mentions paying in advance online, a phone app or a discount for a longer stay.

Both lines also say they are not responsible for theft of, or damage to, vehicles in the garage. Leave nothing of value on show in the car.

Can you park an RV, camper or tall van at Cape Liberty?

Yes, in the open lot. The Cape Liberty garage has a height limit of 7 feet 4 inches, and Royal Caribbean and Celebrity both say an open lot next to the garage takes vehicles too tall for it.

Campers, RVs and other oversized vehicles that take up more than one space are charged double the normal rate. That works out at $70 a day at Royal Caribbean's figure, or $60 at Celebrity's, on the rates read on 4 November 2026.

Measure a roof box or a high-top van before you go, and head for the open lot if it is over the limit.

Is it cheaper to be dropped off at Cape Liberty than to park?

For most cruises, yes, if someone can drive you. Celebrity says taxis, Uber and Lyft drivers and private car services can all enter the restricted area of the port, so a friend, a car service or a ride app can take you to the terminal and collect you on your return. Neither line mentions a fee for dropping off.

As a yardstick, on 4 November 2026 Newark airport's taxi page estimated $56 from the airport to Jersey City, the city just north of Bayonne, before tips, tolls and fees. Two rides at that level come to less than seven nights in the garage at either line's rate. Our Newark airport guide and New York City guide cover the taxi and ride app options in more detail.

A few things to plan for:

  • No walking in. Celebrity says the Port Authority only lets guests arrive in a motor vehicle, so the driver has to bring you all the way to the terminal.
  • The return morning. The ships on our schedule are due back at 6 am or 7 am, and Celebrity says disembarkation usually runs from about 8 am to 10 am. A pickup booked for mid-morning avoids a long wait at the curb.
  • Where the driver goes. Port Terminal Boulevard, the guard gate, then the signs to the terminal, the same route a parking car takes.

Are there off-site parking lots for Cape Liberty?

We do not list any. We only name an off-site lot when the lot operator's own page says it runs a shuttle to Cape Liberty Cruise Port and gives a price. The off-site lots we found were listed on parking booking sites, and we did not find a page of their own that gives both.

If you book an off-site lot anyway, ask the lot directly what time its shuttle runs on sailing day and on your return morning, how much luggage the shuttle takes, and whether the price includes every passenger.

What if your cruise does not return to Bayonne?

Check before you park. 7 of the sailings on our schedule are one-way. They leave Cape Liberty and end in another port, such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Civitavecchia, Reykjavik or Montreal. Your car would sit in Bayonne at the daily rate while you get home from somewhere else.

For a one-way trip, being dropped off usually makes more sense than parking. If you do leave a car at Cape Liberty, plan how you will get from your arrival airport back to Bayonne to collect it, and count every day it stays in the garage.

The one-way sailings are among the Caribbean, Europe and Canada and New England cruises on our schedule.

Which parking option makes sense for a Cape Liberty cruise?

That depends on how you are getting to Bayonne and whether the cruise comes back there. The garage suits a round trip when you are driving in anyway. A drop-off suits a one-way voyage, or any trip where someone nearby can drive you.

Your situationWhat we would do
Driving in for a round trip, several people in one carPark in the garage. The rate is per car, so it divides well.
Driving in alone for a long cruisePrice a drop-off or a car service against the garage table above.
High-top van, RV or camperUse the open lot beside the garage, and expect the double rate if it takes two spaces.
One-way cruiseGet dropped off. A parked car stays in Bayonne at the daily rate while you come home from another port.
Flying into Newark, JFK or LaGuardiaLeave the car out of it. A taxi or ride app goes straight to the terminal, as the airport guide explains.

What tolls do you pay driving home from Cape Liberty?

None at the Port Authority's crossings if you stay in New Jersey, and the full toll if you drive into New York. The Port Authority collects tolls at the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, the George Washington, Bayonne and Goethals bridges and the Outerbridge Crossing only from drivers entering New York.

On 4 November 2026 the Port Authority's toll page gave these rates for a car:

How you payToll entering New York
E-ZPass, off-peak$14.79
E-ZPass, peak$16.79
E-ZPass tag not read properly (mid-tier rate)$19.55
Tolls by Mail$23.30

Peak hours are 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm on weekdays, and 11 am to 9 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. All Port Authority crossings are cashless, and the E-ZPass discounts apply only to New York and New Jersey E-ZPass accounts. The New Jersey Turnpike charges its own toll on top, which Royal Caribbean's directions mention at Exit 14A.

For the drive itself, the New York City guide covers the routes to Manhattan and Brooklyn, and the port guide covers disembarkation morning.
