We checked 21 hotels a Cape Liberty passenger might use the night before sailing. The table above lists the Bayonne, Staten Island and Jersey City hotels first, then the airport hotels, each by drive time to the terminal:

Which hotel is closest to Cape Liberty Cruise Port?

The Hudson Plaza Motel, at 190 West 63rd Street on Route 440 in Bayonne, is the closest hotel we checked, 15 minutes and 6.3 miles away by car on our route. It's the only hotel we found in Bayonne itself.

Next, by driving time:

• 16 minutes. Days Inn by Wyndham Staten Island, by the Bayonne Bridge (7.4 miles), and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Jersey City Holland Tunnel (8.4 miles).
• 18 minutes. Home2 Suites by Hilton Newark Airport, the closest of the airport hotels.
• 19 to 20 minutes. DoubleTree, Canopy and Sonesta Simply Suites in Jersey City, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites on South Avenue, Staten Island, and the DoubleTree, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza by the airport.
• 21 to 22 minutes. Country Inn & Suites and Comfort Inn on Wild Avenue, Staten Island, and the Aiden by Best Western, Hilton, Hampton Inn and Marriott by the airport.
• 24 to 25 minutes. Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn & Suites and Embassy Suites in Elizabeth.

The Hudson Plaza Motel is a budget motel, family run since 1973, with free parking. Its site gives no check-in times and mentions no shuttle, so plan on your own car or a taxi for the last 6 miles.

Can you walk to Cape Liberty Cruise Port from a hotel?

No. Celebrity's Cape Liberty page says the Port Authority doesn't let guests arrive at the port on foot, only in a motor vehicle. Distance rules it out anyway. The shortest walk on our routes, from the Hudson Plaza Motel, takes 79 minutes, and four of the airport hotels have no walking route to the port at all.

Do any hotels near Cape Liberty have a cruise shuttle?

One. Embassy Suites by Hilton Newark Airport, at 95 International Boulevard in Elizabeth, says on its own page that Cape Liberty Cruise Port "can be reached in 20 minutes via our shuttle for a fee." None of the other 20 hotels lists a ride to the port.

What the hotel's page leaves out:

• The fee. No amount is published.
• The schedule. No times, and nothing on whether the shuttle collects you after the cruise.
• Booking. Not described. Ask the hotel before you count on it, above all for the ride back.

Our route from the hotel to the terminal takes 25 minutes without traffic. The hotel also runs a complimentary shuttle to the airport, three miles away by its count, and includes a made-to-order breakfast.

Two other airport hotels name the port but offer no ride to it. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport says it is seven miles from Cape Liberty, which is 8.9 miles on our route. Hampton Inn & Suites Newark Airport Elizabeth puts the port within 15 miles. Every other free shuttle on this page goes to the airport.

Is there a park and cruise hotel for Cape Liberty?

Not on any hotel site we read. None of the 21 hotels sells a package that names Cape Liberty, or a cruise, and covers your car while you sail.

A few airport hotels sell parking packages that name only airports:

• IHG's Park Stay & Go. Crowne Plaza Newark Airport, Holiday Inn Express Newark Airport in Elizabeth and Holiday Inn Newark International Airport list one night plus up to 8 nights of parking "at our conveniently located airport and train station hotels". The Crowne Plaza also lists a 15-night version.
• Hilton's Park, Stay, & Go. The offers pages of Hilton Garden Inn Staten Island, Hilton Newark Airport and Embassy Suites show it for "select airports and cruise ports" at participating hotels, without naming Cape Liberty.

If you want to leave a car at a hotel, ask whether the package covers a cruise and how you would reach the port, because none of these pages says. The other choice is the garage beside the terminal. On 4 November 2026 Royal Caribbean's Cape Liberty page gave $35 a day and Celebrity's $30 a day, both with taxes included. Our Cape Liberty parking guide has the details.

Should you stay by Newark airport before a Cape Liberty cruise?

If you fly into Newark, it's the simplest choice. All 11 airport hotels here list a free airport shuttle, and they are 18 to 25 minutes from the terminal by car on our routes. The hotels in Bayonne, Staten Island and Jersey City are 15 to 21 minutes from the terminal, not much closer, and you would need a taxi or ride app from the airport to reach them.

The airport hotels by drive to the terminal:

• 18 minutes. Home2 Suites, 620 Route 1 and 9 South, 8 minutes from the airport.
• 20 minutes. DoubleTree and Holiday Inn on Frontage Road, and the Crowne Plaza on Spring Street in Elizabeth.
• 21 minutes. Aiden by Best Western Newark Airport West, Hilton Newark Airport and Hampton Inn Newark Airport.
• 22 minutes. Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott, on the airport grounds, with the shortest drive to the airport of the 11, 6 minutes.
• 24 to 25 minutes. Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn & Suites in Elizabeth (24), and Embassy Suites (25), the one with the paid cruise shuttle.

Most of these hotels say their shuttle picks up at AirTrain Station P3: Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, the Aiden and the DoubleTree. Holiday Inn Express in Elizabeth names Station P4, and the Marriott says its shuttle serves all EWR terminals. Check the pickup point with your hotel before you land.

Should you stay in Bayonne, Staten Island or Jersey City?

Choose by what else you need. Bayonne has the closest bed, Staten Island has free parking at three hotels and free breakfast at four, and Jersey City puts you near PATH trains to Manhattan, with paid parking.

• Bayonne. Only the Hudson Plaza Motel, 15 minutes from the port, with free parking and no published check-in times.
• Staten Island. Five hotels, 16 to 21 minutes away. Our routes from all five cross the Bayonne Bridge. The Days Inn on Port Richmond Avenue sits by the bridge, 16 minutes from the port. Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites on South Avenue, near the Goethals Bridge, are 20 minutes away, and Country Inn & Suites and Comfort Inn on Wild Avenue are 21. None of the five lists an airport shuttle.
• Jersey City. Four hotels, 16 to 20 minutes away, by the New Jersey Turnpike's Newark Bay Extension. Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District says the Grove Street PATH station is just around the corner, and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Jersey City puts PATH trains, light rail and the Harborside ferry terminal within five blocks. Published parking runs from $25 to $45.

How much is hotel parking near Cape Liberty Cruise Port?

From free to $45. On 4 November 2026 four hotels listed free parking for guests, the airport hotels charged $15 to $39 a day, and the Jersey City hotels $25 to $45. These are rates for the nights you stay. No hotel here says you can leave the car while you sail.

How do you get from a hotel to Cape Liberty?

By car, taxi or ride app, unless you take the Embassy Suites shuttle. Celebrity says taxis, Uber and Lyft drivers and private car services can all get into the port's restricted areas, and with no entry on foot, the driver takes you in.

Our routes, without traffic:

• From Bayonne. Route 440 south to the port, 15 minutes.
• From Staten Island. North over the Bayonne Bridge, 16 to 21 minutes.
• From Jersey City and the Newark airport hotels. I-78, the Newark Bay Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike, toward Bayonne, then the roads through Port Jersey to the terminal. That takes 16 to 20 minutes from Jersey City and 18 to 25 from the airport hotels.

Leave a margin for traffic. Royal Caribbean asks you to arrive in the time slot you chose at online check-in, and coming early doesn't get you on board sooner. Our port guide explains arrival and drop-off, and the New York City guide covers the trip from Manhattan.

What time is check-in at hotels near Cape Liberty?

3 pm at 12 of the 20 hotels that publish a time, and 4 pm at the other 8. Check-out is 11 am at 16 of them and noon at 4: Canopy by Hilton Jersey City, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express in Elizabeth and Hampton Inn & Suites Newark Airport Elizabeth.

• 4 pm check-in. Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites on Staten Island, DoubleTree Jersey City, Sonesta Simply Suites, the airport Marriott, Hilton Newark Airport, Holiday Inn Newark International Airport and DoubleTree Newark Airport.
• Free breakfast. Days Inn (a light breakfast item), Hampton Inn & Suites Staten Island, Comfort Inn, Country Inn & Suites, both Holiday Inn Express hotels, Hampton Inn Newark Airport, Home2 Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites Elizabeth and Embassy Suites.
• Breakfast for a fee. Hilton Garden Inn Staten Island, Canopy, DoubleTree Jersey City, Hilton Newark Airport, DoubleTree Newark Airport and the Aiden.

The Hudson Plaza Motel's site gives no times. If your flight lands early, or you want somewhere to wait after the ship comes back, ask the hotel about holding your bags.

Which hotels near Cape Liberty aren't listed here?

Most Marriott hotels. Marriott's site turned us away after the Newark airport Marriott, so the Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, SpringHill Suites and Renaissance hotels by the airport and in Elizabeth, the Fairfield Inn on Staten Island, and the Westin, Courtyard and Residence Inn in Jersey City are missing for now. Hyatt's pages for its two Jersey City hotels loaded blank, and the Ramada on Staten Island no longer has a page that loads on Wyndham's site. We don't fill gaps from travel sites.
