Every Canada and New England cruise on this schedule leaves Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey, between June and October 2027. Most are Royal Caribbean round trips on Independence of the Seas: short summer runs to Halifax and longer fall trips up the New England and Maritime coast. Silversea's Silver Shadow goes all the way up the St. Lawrence to Montreal and does not come back.
On 4 November 2026 fares ran from $504 to $6,700 per person, for the cheapest cabin listed, with taxes and port fees included. The table at the end of this guide lists every sailing, and the Canada and New England destination page has a page for each one.
What Canada and New England cruises leave Bayonne, NJ?
Three kinds, all in 2027. Independence of the Seas sails 4-night trips to Halifax on Tuesdays in June, July and August, and 9-night trips on Thursdays in September and October. Silver Shadow leaves on Friday 24 September 2027 for 11 nights and ends in Montreal.
| Trip | Ship | Leaves | Stops | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4-night Canada Getaway | Independence of the Seas | Tuesdays, 3pm, June to August | Halifax | Bayonne, Saturday 7am |
| 9-night Canada and New England | Independence of the Seas | Thursdays, 3pm, September and October | Boston, Portland, Saint John, Halifax, Sydney | Bayonne, Saturday 7am |
| 11-night Canada | Silver Shadow | Friday 24 September, 7pm | Newport, Portland, Boston, Halifax, Charlottetown, Quebec City | Montreal, Tuesday 5 October, 7am |
The 4-night trips run from 1 June 2027 to 24 August 2027 and the 9-night trips from 2 September 2027 to 14 October 2027. In the weeks between, Independence also sails the 5-night Bermuda trips that our Bermuda guide covers.
What is a 4-night Canada cruise from Bayonne?
A Tuesday-to-Saturday round trip on Independence of the Seas with one stop, Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 8am to 6pm on the Thursday. The other days are at sea: Wednesday on the way up and Friday on the way back. You are home at 7am on Saturday.
| Day | Stop |
|---|---|
| Tuesday | Leave Bayonne, 3pm |
| Wednesday | At sea |
| Thursday | Halifax, 8am to 6pm |
| Friday | At sea |
| Saturday | Bayonne, 7am |
It needs four weekdays off, Tuesday to Friday. Ten hours in Halifax is a full day, but with one stop in four nights, most of this trip is time on the ship.
Celebrity's Halifax port guide says passengers walk down covered gangways to Pavilion 20 or 22, with a visitor information center, souvenir stalls and restrooms in Pavilion 22 and taxis and tour buses outside. It calls the downtown waterfront a short walk away and describes a car-free wooden boardwalk that runs two and a half miles along much of it.
On 4 November 2026 the 4-night trips started at $504 per person, or $126 a night. Our short cruises guide compares them with the Bermuda trips.
What is the itinerary of a 9-night Canada and New England cruise from Bayonne?
Thursday to Saturday, with five ports: Boston on the Saturday, Portland, Maine, on the Sunday, Saint John, New Brunswick, on the Monday, then Halifax and Sydney in Nova Scotia later in the week. The order of the last two, and some of the times, change from one sailing to the next.
| Day | 2 September | 16 and 30 September | 14 October |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday | Leave Bayonne, 3pm | Leave Bayonne, 3pm | Leave Bayonne, 3pm |
| Friday | At sea | At sea | At sea |
| Saturday | Boston, 8am to 6pm | Boston, 8am to 6pm | Boston, 8am to 6pm |
| Sunday | Portland, 7am to 4pm | Portland, 6:30am to 3pm | Portland, 8am to 6pm |
| Monday | Saint John, 7am to 6pm | Saint John, 5:30am to 5pm | Saint John from 12:30pm, overnight |
| Tuesday | At sea | At sea | Saint John until 2pm |
| Wednesday | Sydney, 7am to 4pm | Halifax, 7am to 4pm | Halifax, 8am to 4pm |
| Thursday | Halifax, 8am to 6pm | Sydney, 7am to 3pm | Sydney, 7am to 3pm |
| Friday | At sea | At sea | At sea |
| Saturday | Bayonne, 7am | Bayonne, 7am | Bayonne, 7am |
The September trips have three days at sea. The October trip swaps the Tuesday at sea for a night in Saint John, so it has only two, and it is the one to pick if you want an evening ashore in Canada.
Boston comes first, with ten hours in port on the Saturday. On 4 November 2026 the 9-night trips started at $1,000 per person, or $111 a night.
Which ports do Canada and New England cruises from Bayonne visit?
Halifax on every trip, and Boston, Portland, Saint John and Sydney on the 9-night ones. Silver Shadow adds Newport, Charlottetown, Quebec City and Montreal. On this schedule 11 sailings from Bayonne call at Halifax, counting the Greenland trips covered further down.
- Saint John, New Brunswick. Port Saint John says its Welcome Crew meets passengers as they leave the ship. Next to its Marco Polo Cruise Terminal is the AREA 506 Waterfront Container Village, over 60 shipping containers with shops, food trucks, a crew lounge and a performance space, and the port publishes an uptown walking map.
- Sydney, Nova Scotia. The Port of Sydney says the waterfront and downtown sites on its walking map are all within walking distance of the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, and points to the shops by the Big Fiddle.
- Halifax, Nova Scotia. See the 4-night section above. On the 9-night trips the ship is there for eight to ten hours.
Can you cruise from Bayonne to Montreal?
Yes, on Silversea's Silver Shadow, which leaves Bayonne at 7pm on Friday 24 September 2027 and arrives in Montreal at 7am on Tuesday 5 October, 11 nights later. It is a one-way trip, so you travel home from Canada.
| Day | Stop |
|---|---|
| Friday 24 September | Leave Bayonne, 7pm |
| Saturday 25 September | Newport, Rhode Island, 8:30am to 6:30pm, then the Cape Cod Canal from 10:15 to 11:45pm |
| Sunday 26 September | Portland, Maine, 8:30am to 6pm |
| Monday 27 September | Boston, 8am to 5pm |
| Tuesday 28 September | At sea |
| Wednesday 29 September | Halifax, 8am to 6pm |
| Thursday 30 September | At sea |
| Friday 1 October | Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, 8am to 4pm |
| Saturday 2 October | At sea |
| Sunday 3 October | Quebec City from 4pm, overnight |
| Monday 4 October | Quebec City until 5pm |
| Tuesday 5 October | Montreal, 7am |
Silversea's page for the voyage, code SS270924011, lists the Cape Cod Canal as a transit, not a port. It says every voyage includes drinks, onboard gratuities, port taxes and fees, and transport to the city center where the destination needs it. On 4 November 2026 the fare started at $6,700 per person, against $1,000 for the cheapest 9-night trip on Independence of the Seas, and the two fares do not cover the same things.
Silversea also lists Silver Shadow sailing the other way, from Montreal on 13 September 2027 to Bayonne on the morning of 24 September, the day this voyage leaves. That sailing starts in Montreal, so it is not on this schedule. The Silversea page and the Silver Shadow page list what does leave from Bayonne.
How do you get home from Montreal after a cruise from Bayonne?
By air, with a passport, or by train. Montreal Trudeau International Airport is on U.S. Customs and Border Protection's list of preclearance locations, so you clear U.S. customs in Montreal before you fly. Amtrak's Adirondack runs from Montreal by Albany to New York, a trip Amtrak lists at 10 hours.
The Port of Montreal lists its cruise terminals 1 and 2 at the Grand Quay, 200 De la Commune Street West. On 4 November 2026 its page gave a flat taxi fare of $49.45 CDN between the airport and the Grand Quay, from 5am to 11pm, taxes included and tip not, and $11 CDN for the 747 bus between the airport and downtown. Silversea's page does not say which terminal Silver Shadow uses.
CBP says preclearance lets travelers skip CBP and TSA inspection on arrival in the United States and go straight to a connecting flight or their final destination.
Do you need a passport for a cruise from Bayonne to Canada?
For the Royal Caribbean round trips, U.S. citizens can sail without one. For Silver Shadow's one-way voyage, you need a passport book to fly home. Canada itself recommends a passport either way.
CBP says U.S. citizens on a closed-loop cruise, one that starts and ends at the same U.S. port and stays in the Western Hemisphere, may come back with a government-issued photo ID and proof of citizenship. Royal Caribbean's passport guide, published on 9 October 2026, describes Canada as a closed-loop option that does not require a passport and still recommends one.
The Canada Border Services Agency recommends travelling with a valid passport. It also accepts documents that prove your full name, date of birth and citizenship, such as a birth certificate, a certificate of citizenship or naturalization, or a U.S. enhanced driver's license, and may ask for photo ID with a document that has no photo.
For the trip home from Montreal, CBP says U.S. citizens need a passport to enter the United States by air from Canada, and the passport card is not accepted for international air travel. At a land crossing, CBP also accepts a passport card, an enhanced driver's license or a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS. Our cruise documents guide has the rest.
Which other cruises from Bayonne stop in Canada?
Celebrity's 13-night voyages to Greenland and Iceland. They start with Canadian ports and end in Reykjavik, so we file them under Europe and they are not in the table on this page.
- Celebrity Silhouette leaves on Sunday 20 June 2027 and calls at Sydney, Halifax and St. John's, Newfoundland, then Qaqortoq in Greenland, scenic cruising in Prince Christian Sound from 7am to 1pm, and Isafjordur in Iceland. It reaches Reykjavik on the morning of 2 July.
- Celebrity Summit leaves on Sunday 18 June 2028 and calls at Saint John, Halifax, St. John's, Qaqortoq and Isafjordur, reaching Reykjavik on the morning of 30 June.
Both are one way, so you fly home from Iceland, and our cruise documents guide covers the papers for that. The Europe page lists them with the spring crossings to Italy.
